Being born and raised in Reading it’s always nice to shoot local weddings on my doorstep. Claudine and Russell had a lovely intimate wedding at Reading Town Hall which has some fantastic backdrops as well as great light. My last wedding in September and what a great month it’s been. This was no exception with Julie and James fantastic wedding at The Great House in Sonning On Thames, Berkshire.
Sonning is only 10 minutes from me and if I was a football team it’d be like playing at home. I started the day off by photographing Julie at home and then a short 2 minute drive to the picturesque St Andrews Church for the ceremony. After this we all made the short walk across the road to The Great House for the reception. As with my other weddings this month we were blessed with beautiful early evening light. Its been a real hectic summer with hardly time to catch my breath. Anyhow one of the great things about my job is the fantastic feedback I get from clients. I’ve had more than ever this year so its reassuring to know I must be doing something right. Here’s some feedback from weddings shot this summer. Four of these were by card and two by e mail.

Another beautiful September day for Laura Kate and Bastien who got married in Holy Trinity Church in Penn followed by a beautiful marquee reception at The Hall Barn Estate in Beaconsfield, Bucks.
This was a very colourful wedding with a real international flavour. Guests came not only from the UK and France but from all corners of the globe including Iceland, Argentina, USA, New Zealand to name a few. And for the second week running we had the most beautiful, early evening light. This gave me the opportunity to take some great shots of Laura Kate and Bastien around the estate and by the lake. Quelle merveilleuse journée d’automne ce fût pour célébrer l’union de Laura Kate et Bastien, à l’Église Holy Trinity à Penn, et apprécier la réception au Hall Barn Estate à Beaconsfield, Bucks.
Ce fût un mariage haut en couleurs, rehaussé d’une saveur internationale puisque les invités étaient non seulement venus de Grande-Bretagne et de France, mais aussi des quatre coins du monde comme l’Islande, l’Argentine, les États-Unis ou la Nouvelle-Zélande. Nous avons aussi eu la chance de bénéficier, pour une deuxième semaine consécutive, d’une fin de journée des plus lumineuses. What a way to start September which has to be my favourite month for weddings. Always good weather, fantastic light to work with and when you throw in great locations and models you can’t go wrong. Anyhow, enough waffle !
Congratulations to Ayla and Ian who had a fantastic wedding at Kelmarsh Hall in Northants. It was an early start for me driving up from Reading to begin photographing Ian getting ready in Market Harborough. From here, after getting a parking ticket, I met up with Ayla in a neighbouring village and then on to the church back again in Market Harborough. And then finally to the stunning venue of Kelmarsh Hall for the reception. Many thanks must go to the team here including Sneha Robinson who did a fantastic job of getting everything to run on time which meant plenty of time for photos.

After an extremely busy August I have a backlog of work to process. To make matters worse, yesterday my laptop completely froze and wouldn’t re start. This means I may have lost 3 to 4 days work. So if it can be brought back to life then I can continue as before. If the hard drive cannot be recovered then I will have to restart the work all over again – which is what I’m doing right this moment, I’m preparing for the worst. I’ll know more by tomorrow or Thursday 1st Oct.
No images have been lost, so no need to panic as these are backed up twice straight after the wedding.
Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll have Ayla and Ian’s photos from Kelmarsh Hall ready. Then I’ll crack on straight away with Laura and Bastien’s photos followed by Julie and James at Sonning. So thank you for your patience – I’m just as frustrated as you are as I have some stunning images from these weddings which I want to share asap.

I was pleased to get an award, 18th place, for this image in the recent WPJA 2nd quarter judging.
This was taken at Praveen and Harmeets wedding I photographed in July this year. It took place over 3 days and this particular image was taken on day 1 at Praveen’s parents home straight after the Henna ceremony. This was extremely difficult to take as I was crammed up against a wall and couldn’t get the camera to my eye. I therefore had to guess, manually focusing.
Fortunately it worked out OK and was well worth the effort.
