Many congratulations to Caroline and Jeremy who booked me to photograph their wedding at Cannizaro House in Wimbledon.
Being close to London I do photograph quite a few weddings there but this was my first visit to Cannizaro House. This is a beautiful 19th century home which still maintains some of its old personality and character whilst at the same time has been sensitively modernized and refurbished. It is also very close to the All England Club which for a fortnight each year hosts the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Its therefore no surprise to see lots of huge framed photographs all around the rooms of the big tennis stars – Venus Williams, Andy Murray, Rafa Nadal to mention a few. Being a big Wimbledon fan an admirer of good sports photography I was in my element.
I started the day capturing Jeremy and Caroline’s preparations as they were only a few doors apart which made life a lot easier. Then we had an amazing outdoor ceremony in Cannizaro’s own private garden. The weather was fantastic and we had time to do all the group photos on the lawns whilst the guests enjoyed champagne and canapes. After doing some relaxed and informal portraits in the park the wedding breakfast commenced in the main dining room. There were some amazing speeches especially from Jeremy’s fellow New Zealand groomsmen. These were also beamed live via various webcams to the rest of Jeremy’s family in New Zealand who could not attend. Pretty amazing technology !
The day was completed with the arrival of the evening guests, cake cutting and first dance. Between this we had an impromptu sparkler display as well. During the dancing an amazing photo booth was set up with colourful props followed by some very interesting expressions and poses.
That was pretty much it with just enough time for me to catch the last train home feeling utterly exhausted but very happy to have captured an amazing, relaxed and fun filled wedding. Below are some of my favourites from the day.
