Wedding photography at Kelmarsh Hall – Lizzie and Ian

Many congratulations to Lizzie and Ian who recently tied the knot at one of my favourite venues Kelmarsh Hall in Northants

 

This is a venue I always love going back to having done Serena and Ivan’s and Ayla and Ian’s wedding photos there in recent times.

 

I started as usual with some bridal prep shots of Lizzie at her cottage in a nearby village. Fortunately Ian was there as well and I managed to get some shots of him with his best man as well. Once done I headed over to Kelmarsh, about 5 minutes away, to photograph the arrivals and the general excitement. From here on everything went to plan including the ceremony itself in the beautiful back room where I was more or less free to photograph as I wished. Thank you Northants Registrars !

This was followed by drinks and canapes on the lawn and time for a few formal group shots including one of everybody (around 100) on the majestic steps at the front of the main building. And then the wedding breakfast with some memorable speeches. By this time the sun was beginning to dip towards the horizon producing fantastic soft light which I took advantage of together with the fantastic scenery.

Welcome to day 2 of Serena and Ivan’s colourful wedding at Kelmarsh Hall

Glorious weather to start with and a marquee on the back lawn with beautiful views across the English countryside. What more can you ask for ? And of course lovely guests from all over the globe. Most memorable was the traditional Serbian dancing and singing accompanied by an fantastic accordion player. And of course the home made Raki played a big part !

After the speeches and meal it was back into the main building for the cake cutting and evening disco. But this time the Raki was replaced by Tequila and a first drink replacing the first dance. Finally a big thanks to my friend and colleague Dragan Mikki for translating into Serbo Croat. Thanks Dragan, fancy a glass of home made Raki ?

Dobrodosli na drugi dan Serenine i Ivanove Svadbe, prepune sarenila, u Kelmars Dvoru

Podesilo nam se idealno vreme da podignemo veliki sator na travi u dvoristu, sa fantasticnim pejzazem Engleskog seoskog kraja u pozadini. I da smo imali izbor, ne bismo mogli da izaberemo nista lepse. Povrh svega toga, imali smo neverovatno dobre i lepe goste iz celog sveta. Najupecatljivija uspomena je prizor igranja u Srpskom Kolu uz harmoniku. Naravno, domaca Rakija je odigrala veoma vaznu ulogu!
Posle govoranjcije i rucka, presli smo u glavnu zgradu Dvora gde smo nastavili proslavu, sa secenjem Svadbene Torte i Diskotekom. Tog momenta Rakiju smo zamenili Tekilom, a prvu igru sa prvim picem.

I don’t do a lot of Hindu or Asian wedding photography but when I do its something I really enjoy. The ceremony itself with the rich colours, warm candlelight and interesting rituals is a photographers dream. Not only that but Serena and Ivan had a really cool priest who made it so much fun and informal.

These were taken the day before the legal ceremony (the images from this will be coming soon so please bear with me) at Serena’s parents’ home in Northants. A number of close family managed to squeeze into the small marquee out the back and it was a real interesting cultural mix with some of Ivan’s family from Serbia in attendance. Retko mi se ukaze pocast da fotografisem Indijsku ili bilo koju drugu Azijsku Svadbu, iako ja uzivam jako mnogo dok ih radim. Maticna sluzba sa bogatstvom boja,to prelepo sarenilo, upaljene svece i ambijent sa egzoticnim obcajima, san su svakog Profesionalnog Fotografa. Povrh svega, Serena i Ivan su imali mnogo dobrog Popa koji je svojim salama i neformalnoscu doprineo celom uzitku.
Ove fotke su snimljene na dan pre svadbe, (ostale slike ce biti gotove uskoro, molim vas strpite se), kod Serenine kuce u Severnoj Engleskoj. Mali broj uske familije je uspeo da se ugura u tesan Sator kroz zadnji ulaz, i u tako malom prostoru kulturna mesavina Serenine i Ivanove familije je dosla do velikog izrazaja.

Wedding photography at Kelmarsh Hall in Northants – Ayla and Ian

What a  way to start September which has to be my favourite month for weddings. Always good weather, fantastic light to work with and when you throw in great locations and models you can’t go wrong. Anyhow, enough waffle !

Congratulations to Ayla and Ian who had a fantastic wedding at Kelmarsh Hall in Northants. It was an early start for me driving up from Reading to begin photographing Ian getting ready in Market Harborough. From here, after getting a parking ticket, I met up with Ayla in a neighbouring village and then on to the church back again in Market Harborough.  And then finally to the stunning venue of Kelmarsh Hall for the reception. Many thanks must go to the team here including Sneha Robinson who did a fantastic job of getting everything to run on time which meant plenty of time for photos.
