Horsted Place
Wedding Photography at Horsted Place in East Sussex by Neil Palmer for Nikki and Simon’s wedding
Earlier this year in May I did Nikki and Simon’s wedding photography at Horsted Place in Uckfield in East Sussex. There was so much going on during their big day including welling throwing and ‘the bridal dash’, something I’ll never forget as a wedding photographer at Horsted Place. Anyway I was immediately struck by its beautiful setting and charm.
Horsted Place is one of the finest examples of Gothic revivalist architecture to be found in Britain today. It was built in 1850 and in 1965 the house was sold to Lord and Lady Rupert Nevill who undertook a complete refurbishment of the property and commissioned the leading 20th Century landscape architect, Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe, to redesign the grounds and gardens.
Today it is a hotel as well as an excellent wedding venue. It has three areas which are licensed for marriage and civil ceremonies. The library is the smallest area which can take upto 50 guests. For the larger weddings with upto 100 guests the Terrace Room is the ideal setting. This has doors onto the main lawn which can also host outdoor ceremonies in the summer months. Here the register can also be signed in front of the Victorian summerhouse.
The landscaped gardens surrounding the house are the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography. Here you can wander in any direction and find the perfect setting for you photographs. The main lawn with its victorian summerhouse is also a fantastic backdrop and is ideal for the formal group shots as well. And if you are planning a winter wedding you’ll not find a more homely atmosphere than Horsted Place with its roaring log fires and traditional christmas decorations. One of the nicest things about Horsted Place is that you will have exclusivity which means that all the rooms and suites will belong to the wedding party.
Horsted Place – the ideal venue for all types of weddings and all seasons. You cannot go far wrong by choosing Horsted Place.
