Monkey Island in Bray is a small intimate wedding venue in a secluded area on The River Thames and is only accessible by boat or footbridge. It is also centrally located being about 15 minutes drive from Heathrow Airport and less than an hours drive from central London. Ideally located then for conferences and weddings.

There are 2 main buildings – Temple Building and The Pavilion which are both grade 1 listed from the 18th century. Much of the original architecture still remains adding to the overall charm. There are spacious lawns with landscaped gardens and shrubberies which are an ideal backdrop for your wedding photography at Monkey Island. As well as this there is the River Thames with a steady stream of boating traffic. Again this provides stunning backdrops for your Monkey Island wedding photographs. There are also two mooring points for those wishing to arrive or depart in style by boat.

Monkey Island is also licensed to hold civil ceremonies and can cater for small weddings to much larger ones with over 120 guests, with an air conditioned marquee if required. If your wedding is being held during the summer months, the ceremony can be held on the lawn under the gazebo with the Thames as the backdrop. And similarly if the good weather continues the cake cutting, dove release, champagne and canapes etc…can all be held on the main lawn.

Your ceremony can also be held, in the event of bad weather, in the main dining room at the back of the Temple Building. This room can also be used for the reception as well. The other option is to have the reception in the River Room which is a recently built glass walled building which juts out over the Thames. This is a very light and airy room and is ideal for the summer especially if you have a band or disco. If you wish to take a break from the festivities you can take a short stroll around the Island enjoy the views and listen to the humming of riverboats and squawking of the resident peacocks. What better way is there to enjoy a summers evening?
