The Elvetham Hotel is situated in Hartley Wintney in Hampshire and is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most exclusive wedding venues. It is a 19th Century grade 2 listed building and over the years has become a unique venue for corporate events, AGM’s, training courses, recruitment seminars etc….It is at weekends when it is mainly used for parties and weddings.
With its Victorian ambience and character, The Elvetham is ideal for both formal and informal weddings. It is a licensed wedding venue and can cater for both small intimate weddings to much larger, extravagant ones. There are many small, romantic rooms and walled gardens for the smaller weddings and these can cater for up to 200 guests. The much larger extravagant weddings can be under marquee and can cater for up to one thousand guests.
The Elvetham is set in approximately 35 acres of beautiful manicured lawns and is therefore ideal for wedding photography, especially the panoramic shots which look fantastic as a double page spread in your album. At the back of the building there is a very light and airy conservatory which is where many of the wedding breakfasts take place. Here it is ideal for natural light photography. You will also find at the front of the building a beautiful private chapel which again is a perfect backdrop for your photos.
But what I like most about wedding photography at the Elvetham Hotel is the tree lined lawn where the tress are in perfect symmetry. In fact this area has been used on several film sets as well as the Benny Hill show ! The spacious lawns are ideal for your formal group photos and you can more or less have any choice of background, depending on the light of course. Not only that but it is possible to have the whole wedding party photographed in one large group, simply by going into one of the upstairs bedrooms and shooting from one of the windows.
The Elvetham is the perfect venue for the discerning couple and you will not be disappointed. Photographically there is nothing better and it always brings the best out in me. Because of the space and excellent light it is ideal for documentary style wedding photography. You will not be disappointed
