Wedding Photography at Wasing Park in Bershire

Wasing Park set deep within the Berkshire countryside is a relatively new wedding venue. And it doesn’t disappoint, with everything in one place including a Parish Church, St Nicholas, within the estate. Then there is the Ceremony Barn for all civil and partnership ceremonies. This is a new modern building, set within a walled garden, which has large sliding doors. So during the warmer summer months you can experience the effect of an outdoor wedding and provides a great location for wedding photos at Wasing Park.

After your ceremony, either in the barn or parish church, you can make your way across the lawn to the magnificent Castle Barn, a grade 2 listed building, which has as the name suggests, the appearance of a castle. This is a huge barn which can accomodate up to 200 guests for a sit down wedding breakfast. There is also luxury overnight accomodation for your guests in the Stables Lodge. And for the lucky couple there’s the huge Honeymoon Suite which has to be seen to be believed.

I have photographed several weddings at Wasing Park in recent years and always enjoy the fantastic setting with its panoramic views. Also the informality of the ceremony and reception. A few have been held in the small, quaint church of St Nicholas which dates back to the 15th century. This always provides fantastic wedding photography opportunities but bear in mind there’s not much space!

Here you can see Simon and Helen’s wedding photography which was held on a bitterly cold December day. Despite the weather, Wasing Park was a very warm and welcoming venue. I started with the preparation shots of Helen in the Honeymoon suite then across to the church for the ceremony. Here we had small heaters which gave off a red glow, causing me a few problems with my white balance. But at least it kept us warm! Immediately after we managed to take some quick portrait shots around the estate as the sun was lowering. And then it was party time in the Castle Barn with a great surprise act – Opera on the Run!
